2. Do I need a driver's license to ride an eBike?
In South Carolina, you do not need a driver's license or any license to operate an eBike.
3. Do I need insurance to ride an eBike?
While insurance is not required in South Carolina or the tri-county areas of Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester, having coverage can offer liability protection and safeguard against theft or damage.
4. Do I need to wear a helmet to ride an eBike in South Carolina?
Helmet use is not mandatory for eBike riders in South Carolina. However, it is strongly recommended for safety reasons. Riders under 21 must wear a helmet when operating a motorcycle or moped, but this law does not apply to bicycles or eBikes.
5. How old do I have to be to ride an eBike?
